Everybody in
Genesis had a hectic time for the past few weeks, young and
old alike. We had two major events that made everyone busy –
the North Jakarta Empowered Christian Living Seminar and the
“Night of Praise and Worship.” Once again, the Community was
not only in a service-mode, but also in a unique worship mode.

- SEPTEMBER 14, 2003
-
We recently
concluded the Empowered Christian Living Seminar (ECLS) at
Wisma Don Bosco Seminary, Sunter for a number of participants
mostly residing north of Jakarta. The Care Group (CG) of Bro.
Larry and Sis. Joji Escuban organized the said seminar, which
was conducted on five consecutive Sundays starting from
August 17 until September 14. Everyone in their CG took a
bold step and actively helped to get the seminar going and
make it Spirit-filled for the participants. And of course,
there was an all-out su
 pport from the Community through
Spirit-inspired speakers - Sis. Liza Caleda, Bro. Danny dela
Pena, Bro. Jojo Perucho, Bro. Fred Manibog, Sis. Nenette Dizon,
our head servant Bro. Pete Lapid, along with Fr. Noel
Villafuerte and Fr. Peter. Thanks most especially to Bro.
Fred Nartates for initiating the ECLS and inviting most of the
participants. Congratulations to all the ECLS participants
for completing the seminar and particularly for responding to
the call for a deeper relationship with our Lord.

- SEPTEMBER 19, 2003
- While
the parents were all busily involved in the ECLS, we got the
G Kids busy preparing for their very own
“Night of Praise and Worship through Music and Dance.” Our
usual praise and worship went to a higher level as the G
Kids performed amidst the eager parents and guests that night.
The G Kids and friends who participated in the
summer dance workshop showcased their dance talents.
The younger kids, who wouldn’t let themselves be outdone,
rendered an upbeat dance choreograp
 hed by Sis. Pinky Torres.
A lot of new talents also emerged that night. Bro. Elvin Carigma, Sis. Libay Diwa with Sis. Ira Sol serenaded us with
Filipino praise songs. Even our ECLS participants, Marian
Brina, Ana Cirilo and
 Alex Abelar
with Bro. Elvin, came up with
“The Gift,” a very inspiring mime.

Carla Abawag
also played lovely music on the keyboards, while Bro. Thor
Barleta
 and his children presented a guitar-accompanied song
number. Our Music Ministry ended the night with an
acknowledgement of our guest of honor, our Lord Jesus Christ,
by singing “Lord Jesus We Enthrone You” and “Shout to the
Lord” (with my very own dance interpretation). Special thanks
to Sis. Beth Manibog, Sis. Menchie Abawag, Sis. Mariza Barleta,
Sis Olive Cabauatan and Bro. Elvin Carigma for assisting me in

 That same
night was also the awarding of the winners of the 2003 Genesis
Basketball Fun Game held last July at the Ragunan Sports
Complex. The Red Team (CGs of Bro. Percy & Sis Olive and Bro.
Benny & Sis. Liza with Sis. Leslie) took the top prize for the
women’s divisio n, while the champion for the men’s division
was the combined Red and Orange Team (composed of Bros. Percy,
Bong, Desmond, Jason, Rio, Larry, Allan and Martin). The best
cheering squad went to the Purple Team. Special prizes were
also awarded, with the “Most Valuable Player” awards going to Nisha, the sporty daughter of Bro. Desmond and Sis. Mildred,
now residing in Singapore, and to Bro. Rio Sanchez.
Lastly, Isabel Perucho was given “The Most Promising
Announcer” award for her entertaining commentary of the
event. Once again, thanks to the CGs of Sis. Gina Masindo and
Bro. Martin Widjaja for organizing the sports event.

The
Community once again gathered to celebrate the Lord’s Day,
with Bro. Pete leading the ceremony and assisted by Bro. Larry
Escuban, which was followed by a time of sharing about the
goodness of the Lord.
