SHARING

Somehow getting the children to perform
was the last thing on my mind for the Anniversary Program. But no one
was up for the challenge when I asked all the CG heads if they have a CG
presentation for the Anniversary. And so I had these 25 children with
ages ranging from 2 – 13 years who were willing to brave the stage for
some dancing, singing, acting, music interpretation and sign language to
the tune of “Will You Be There?”
My two sons, Christian and Nathan, chose the song after
watching the “Free Willy” trilogy (the October flavor of the
month film in the house) several times. When they suggested that I get
the lyrics of the song, I realized that the song had a religious
insinuation and such it was a good candidate for the song in the
children’s performance. I just needed to make sure Christian, Nathan
and Gabriel stopped believing they’re Michael Jackson.
For those who did not get the essence of the production
number, let me explain. The song, as I interpret it, is about a child
innocently asking the Lord, if He will be there during his trials,
tribulations, joy and sorrow. In the end, he affirms that the Lord will
“always be in his heart”. This simple presentation, I hope, will
imprint the message of trusting the Lord in the minds of the children.
As for all the stage moms and dads, seeing the kids in action was simply
awesome! That includes me.
I was too busy after the presentation and forgot to thank
the children for their effort. I would like to personally thank Louise
Escuban, Kamille Villareal, Carla Abawag and Isabel Perucho, for helping
me out with the music interpretation and gauging the viability of the
choreography. Thanks to all the bigger girls who danced despite
disbelief of some people on their dancing abilities. Also for Karla and
Jack Manabat, Gabriel and Ariane Manibog, and of course my two boys,
Christian and Nathan, for their untiring willingness to practice (even
after the anniversary they are still requesting to practice). And most
especially, for Carlo Bautista, for taking the role of Jesus (ooh, so
that’s what he was!), even when he initially thought he was not worthy
to be one.
Special thanks also to Sis. Leslie Freires for helping me
practice and guide the kids. And of course, to Sis. Susan Miranda and
Sis. Libay for teaching the kids the beautiful song “You and I”.
It’s been humming in my head the entire week. Very inspiring.
We have some raw materials in our Genesis children. We
just have to believe in them and start “withdrawing” from their massive
account of talents. Most importantly, we need to instill in their young
minds the joy of serving and glorifying the Lord with our talents.
GOD BLESS YOU,
GENESIS CHILDREN!!!
