Fred and Beth ManibogCommunity - A Blessing from God - by Fred and Beth Manibog

Back in the Philippines, when I (Beth) was still new in the renewal, I’ve always been reluctant to commit myself to the community.  I had a feeling that once you join a community, you will be tied up to its activities and that the responsibilities are enormous. Back then; I thought that being in a community is a burden.

As I grew in my spiritual life, I have learned that a community offers countless opportunities to bless and be blessed, to care and be cared for, to love and be loved, to share both in triumphant and lonely moments. It is so amazing that in the community you will find sincere people who are always willing to listen. The community also offers a wonderful opportunity to extend God’s blessings to others and to receive His blessings in return. It is in the community that we experience the true sense of love and caring from people who make up the community - these same people provide the support structure in building up one’s faith.
This year's Anniversary Celebrations Committee - with two Care Groups joined forces headed by Bro. Fred (standing, third from right) and Sis. Beth (standing, second from left) together with the over-all chairman Bro. Alfred (standing, extreme right) with their committed members
We am blessed that God brought us to Indonesia. God really led us to this Community - Genesis. This is God’s instrument to bring about a change in our wrong notions about community life. Our family has experienced the overwhelming joy of being part of this Community. We personally developed a sense of responsibility.

Being shy and timid, it was a struggle for me (Beth) to lead a group, much more speak before an audience. God used the Community to help build up my self-confidence and carry out the ministry He has for me.

There are no dull moments here, but not all times are encouraging though – for there are also periods of discouragement. Indeed, a perfect community is nowhere to be found on earth. Praise God, our Community is no exception. But it is thru the imperfection of this Community where we see God’s hand working in us. We help each other overcome our weaknesses drawing us together closer to God -- an opportunity to develop a wonderful and strong relationship with God and with the people whom He has called together in a Community.  Aside from our family, I am assured that the Community is equally concerned with our well being both physically, more so spiritually. There is no place where one can find real love and care than in a Community. I am happy and thankful, that our family are blessed to be part of Genesis.

As we celebrate our 7th Year Anniversary, we would like to thank the leaders of our Community most especially Bro. Pete Lapid, our head servant, who never gives up on us, whose commitment and dedication in loving God is an inspiration for us to fulfill the mission God has given us.

Praise God for His countless blessings channeled through our Community!
