Luke 15:17-18
– “Coming to his senses he thought,
‘How many of my father’s hired workers have more than enough food to
eat, but here am I dying from hunger. I shall get up and go to my
father and I shall say to him, “Father, I have sinned against heaven and
against you. I no longer deserve to be called your son; treat me as you
would treat one of your hired workers.”
(Parable of
the Prodigal Son)
-
-
In this famous parable of Jesus, the prodigal son
“came to his senses.” And then what happened? He had a
conversion. He rose from his current situation and left the place where
he was. He had true repentance. He admitted his sins, went back to his
father and humbly asked for forgiveness. And in return, he was restored
back to life – as a son of the father.

-
-
This is Resurrection and Easter! Rising from where he
had been and receiving new life!
-
-
A recent research conducted by the Pontifical Council for
Culture revealed that atheism is receding while religious indifference
and “alternative religions” are growing. Among the alarming conclusions
of the study are: 1) Religious indifference or practical atheism is
growing and that agnostics and non-practicing believers are mixed in an
environment where people live as if God did not exist, and 2) Atheism
and unbelief, which are typically masculine phenomena, have spread to
working women and have reached levels almost the same as those of men.
-
-
Many people nowadays are living like the prodigal son in
the parable. They live on their own, as if everything depends on them.
They think they have everything they need. They think they are
self-sufficient. They do not need anybody. Not even God.
-
-
Let us examine ourselves. Am I living my life like
the prodigal son? Am I one of those persons mentioned in the research?
Living my life as if God does not exist? Or that He has no part in my
life?
-
-
Let us not wait for a tragedy or misfortune to fall on us
before we “come to our senses.” Let us not wait for cancer or
other terrible sickness, death or any major adversity to overtake us
before we “wake” up.
-
-
That is why we pray in the Our Father, “Do not bring
us to the test.” Let us not wait for that test to come. Let us
rise and leave the sinful place or situation where we are, go back to
the Father, ask for His forgiveness and be restored back to life as His
sons and daughters.
-
- A Blessed
Resurrection and Easter to all!

- TELL US LIKE IT IS!
- Has something
wonderful and unique happened in your life lately? Did God answer your
prayer in a very unexpected way? Did you, like Isaiah, meet God’s
whisper?
- Have you felt His
powerful hand working in your life recently?
- Everyday, people are
experiencing God’s mighty Word in their lives and it is a pity that very
few know about it. Do you have a story to tell? Some Good News to
share?
- E-mail us (genesis@catholic.org) or fax us
(021-6627384), and tell us about it. That’s right! You don’t have to be
a great writer to do this. We can help you write it – just tell us like
it is!
- Don’t forget to write
the subject: “Let Me Tell You A
Story”
