 WHO
IS IN YOU?

“Do
you not know that you are God’s temple, and that God’s Spirit is
within you? If anyone destroys this
temple of God, God will destroy him, God’s temple is holy, and you
are this temple.”
(1 Corinthians 3:16-17)

“…the love of
God has already been poured into our hearts by the Holy Spirit
given to us.” (Romans 5:5)

“And because
you are sons, God sent into your hearts the Spirit of His Son
which cries out: Abba! That is: Father!” (Galatians 4:6)

Brothers & Sisters in Christ, there are many verses in the
Bible telling us that the Holy Spirit is in us. And the above
verses are just some of them.

But I didn’t know that back then! Nobody told me. (Well,
maybe someone did but I wasn’t paying attention!) I thought that
the Holy Spirit is something very far, not in this world.
Something that is not working in our lives, certainly not in my
life. And that is why before my renewal, I was living a very
different kind of life. I was living a very sinful life.
And definitely, it was not the Holy Spirit working in me then. It
was a different spirit – an “unholy” spirit. I shut the Holy
Spirit entirely from my life. I desecrated this body, the “temple”
of the Holy Spirit, because of my many sins.

But praise be to God! Because it is the same Holy Spirit
who touched me, brought me to conversion and changed my life
completely. The same Holy Spirit who inspired me to live my life
in the service of the Lord.

Some of you may identify with my ignorance of the Holy
Spirit and my sinful past. But the question we all need to answer
now is, “Who is in you?” Who is living in that temple, that is
you?
 Is it
the Holy Spirit or is it another kind of spirit? The Bible also
says in Galatians 5:25, “If we live by the Spirit, let us be led
by the Spirit.” Are you living in the Holy Spirit? Are you led by
the Holy Spirit?

We all need the Holy Spirit. I know I could not have done
it without the power of the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit is there
to help us. How? It is written in Romans 8:26, “The Spirit comes
to help us in our weakness, for, how to ask? and what shall we ask
for? We do not know but the Spirit intercedes for us without
words, as if with groans.”

And so I would like to share with you here a prayer to the
Holy Spirit. With trust and expectant faith, I encourage you to
pray it everyday and experience His work in your life. God does
the impossible through His Holy Spirit living in us. Amen.
