September EVENTS - By Tintin Magbitang
The month of September has been activity filled as we have come to the last month of our Empowered Christian Living Seminar (ECLS).  Genesis members and the ECLS participants have been eagerly waiting for this month to come.

For the past Friday mornings now there has been a small group of non-working Genesis members led by Sis. Beth Manibog, who meet at different houses for Intercessory Prayer. This is just one group of prayer warriors who pray for the intentions of the Community and for special prayer requests received during the week. For those who wish to join, please contact with Sis. Beth Manibog, or you can email any special prayer request to gabriane@cbn.net.id.

Sis NenetteSis. Nenette Dizon delivered a talk on “Christian Service”.  The talk was related to the “Parable of the talents” where the master entrusted his possessions to his servants, giving each one of them five, two or one talent according to their abilities. These talents refer to everything the Lord gives us including time and treasure. We are  mere stewards, not owners. We are not to keep God’s gifts but use them to build up Christ’s body, the Church. Our service is the expression of our love for God. And the quality of ourservice depends on how well we know Jesus.

Alfred and PinkyHusband and wife team Bro. Alfred and Sis. Pinky Torres gave the final ECLS talk on “Call to Community” where they introduced Genesis, as a Community, to the participants. They explained why it is important to be a member of a Community since it is difficult to  live and grow in faith without the support of a group.  They also mentioned how members of Genesis care and support one another through the Care Groups, spiritual formation programs and other related activities. Part of the talk was a testimony by me and my husband, Andy, on how the Community has changed our lives by giving us a family in Jakarta, allowed us to be of service to God, providing for our practical needs, enriching our children spiritually, and improving our prayer lives. Sis. Let Bravo also shared how she has grown spiritually in Genesis, gained friendships and helped her through her trials.

And finally on September 28, we came to the highlight of the ECLS, the Dedication Day. Bro. Percy Cabauatan led a very powerful worship for this joyous occasion (he must have been inspired after watching the Don Moen concert with some members of the Music Ministry earlier in the week).

Bro. Pete Lapid gave an introduction on the relevance of the Dedication Day, particularly the Covenant of the Community.  This was followed by a simple candle light ceremony where everyone read their Covenants- with new members taking their oath and old members renewing their commitment.

And as we, the old members, widened our hearts to those He added to our number, we all greeted the new members by singing “Welcome to the Family” and giving then small tokens on this unforgettable event.  Most of the new members were so inspired and joyfully, others tearfully, expressed their response to the Community. Once again, we have witnessed the work of the Holy Spirit among the different speakers, the dedicated DGLs (Discussion Group Leaders), the other Genesis members behind the scene, and most especially the participants, as we concluded this year’s ECLS.  Indeed, “He who began a good work in us will bring it to completion” (Philippians 1:6).
