 THE
REWARD OF CONSTANCY

Why is it so difficult for me to stand up in front
during our prayer meetings and share? I have to master my
lines beforehand. I am afraid of stammering – from loss for
words or maybe from getting distracted. The Lord has been
blessing us every now and then. Actually, countless times
in a day. But why do we proclaim His goodness to other
people so sparingly? The mere fact that we wake up to a
beautiful morning is a great blessing from the Lord. What
else can we ask for? Being able to sleep peacefully at night
is another miracle! There are millions and millions of
people out there who do not have this privilege especia
 lly now that war is underway. They just hope and pray that
they would one day wake up to a peaceful morning and lead
normal lives again. More so, having a healthy body –
free from any pain - is an answered prayer longed for by so
many these days when a lot of people are stricken with
different kinds of illness.

We generally take these things for granted, often
forgetting to thank the Lord for His everyday blessings on
us. Always looking for something ‘big and extraordinary’
that happened in our lives before we offer thanks. But I
am writing this article because I want to affirm those who
feel discouraged with their unanswered prayers. I, too,
have experienced that agony of waiting for a long time -
seemingly no answer was forthcoming. Little did I know that
the greatest manifestation of the Lord’s miracle in my life
happened that Saturday afternoon of March 22, 6 years ago,
when our long awaited son, Gabriel, was finally born. When
he turned 6, I did not have any plans of anything big for
him but I knew I needed to celebrate as that special day
reminded us of God’s faithfulness to His promise to us.
Gabriel is the Lord’s answer to our years of prayers.
I did not let the day pass then without any celebration.
So, we had a simple gathering, with our CG members and, of
course, the special second parents (godparents) of my son,
as our only guests.

As I reminisce, my loving husband stood up on three
different occasions during our prayer meetings and claimed
that the Lord has answered our prayers, only to discover
later that we had false alarms. But we did not lose hope
and we continued to anchor upon our Lord who is the Author
of Life. We continued to pray until such time that the
Lord could not resist us anymore.

I know I have shared this over and over again but I will
not tire of praising and glorifying our God for He honored
our prayers and granted our desire at the perfect time.

“Let us do good without being discouraged, for in due
season, we shall reap the reward of our constancy.”
(Galatians 6:9).

For those whose prayers seem to remain unanswered, do not
lose heart, because no prayer is ever wasted. The Lord is
doing something good and He wants people to see His glory
manifested through you.
