GOD REVEALED (Part 2)
- By Fr. KJ Veeger, MSC

Only with the help
of God, His Word, and Grace, man is enabled to express in knowledge and
language a little bit of God’s Being. For example, God is infinitely
perfect. It means that within Himself, He integrates all that is or
possibly can be. No human concept is able to exhaust His richness. We
are enforced to speak in seemingly contradictory terms; such as, “He is
one, but also three.” Or, “He is near and intimate to each creature,
above all to man, but at the same time, He dwells at an immeasurable
distance of anything created.” He is fatherhood in person, but He is
also sonship or filiations. He is God Almighty, but, in the words of
the prophet Isaiah, “He took upon Him our sickness and carried away
our diseases (Isaiah 53:4). The same prophet wrote, “Holy, holy,
holy! The
Lord
Almighty is holy” (Isaiah 6:3). “Yet, in Jesus Christ, for our
sake, God took upon Him all human sinfulness” (2 Corinthians 5:21).
-
-
God is eternal
rest, never changing in His perfection, without any non-actualized
potentiality, yet He also “became man through the Power of the Holy
Spirit”. He is at work in the world. He is the driving force behind
peace and unity, and the development of His final Kingdom.
-
-
In the light of
Holy Scriptures, the Council of Nicaea (325) has formulated the doctrine
of the Most Holy Trinity. It was not the intention of the Council
fathers to explain this Mystery, but to reach out a helping hand to our
feeble faith and make us surrender to God and love Him in spite of our
limited intellectual faculties.
-
-
In prayer, we bow
down before God’s Might. We acknowledge that whatever we are or have,
we are always recipients only. We praise Him for His Glory. We are
grateful for having us called to life. We acknowledge in all humility
that without God, there would not be any "me" or "you" or anything
around us. We certainly do not ask, "Who are You?" or "What are Your
credentials?" We just bow down and repeat the words of Psalm 8:3-4,
“When I look at the sky, at the moon and the stars which You have set in
their places, what is man that You think of him; mere man that You care
for him?”
-
-
He is “FATHER,”
from whom all fatherhood and everything good took its origin.
-
-
Most likely at
another time, we are deeply ashamed of ourselves and cry out, “Father, I
have sinned against You and I am no longer worthy of being called Your
child.” Then, we may hear His word, “I am not only Father! Not only
authority and justice personified, but also “SON,” and as such,
your brother in Jesus Christ. God likes to do whatever possible in
order to save man for Him. As Son of God, and our eldest brother, He is
the first to help us.
-
-
Then we may pray
with desperate voice, “Lord, we live in a terrible world! People
slaughter each other and commit the vilest things. Is it true that
everything is destined to be as it is?” However, God will answer,
“Don’t be one-sided! Don’t you see that love and solidarity, too, are
growing in the world? You should not believe in standstill! I am
working on a better world through My “SPIRIT” and through all men
of goodwill.” What does time mean? “To God, thousand years are like
one day,” says Saint Peter in his second letter.
-
-
We believe in the
Tri-Une God. He unites in Himself the seemingly contradictory and
irreconcilable. Similarly, God’s Kingdom, too, is growing in a way that
seems to be the opposite of it.
-
- May God, who
is the Father, Son, and Spirit, take you by the hand and lead you to
where He is God forever.
- TELL US LIKE IT IS!
- Has something
wonderful and unique happened in your life lately? Did God answer your
prayer in a very unexpected way? Did you, like Isaiah, meet God’s
whisper?
- Have you felt His
powerful hand working in your life recently?
- Everyday, people are
experiencing God’s mighty Word in their lives and it is a pity that very
few know about it. Do you have a story to tell? Some Good News to
share?
- E-mail us (genesis@catholic.org) or fax us
(021-6627384), and tell us about it. That’s right! You don’t have to be
a great writer to do this. We can help you write it – just tell us like
it is!
- Don’t forget to write
the subject: “Let Me Tell You A
Story”
