School is almost
over (or over for some). Children are cramming for their exams.
Parents are busy tutoring their children. Well, who says I am not busy.
I might not have anyone to tutor but I am enjoying myself watching the
children of our Community in their school presentations. Our twins
serenaded their classmates with their beautiful rendition of
“Only Selfless Love;” our Angel (Gabriel), fascinated us with his poem
and Filipino dance number; Arianne surprised us with her beautiful
Hawaiian dance number; and John Nathan amused us with his Caribbean
dance. These children are “truly works of art”. To all the kids and the
proud parents, Congratulations for the good work!!!

On
June 6, 2003,
the first Friday of the month, Fr. Veeger led the celebration of the
Holy Mass at Gereja Santa Maria in Blok Q, Kebayoran Baru. In his
homily, Fr. Veeger reminded us of our mission in life: that all of us
must actively participate and cooperate in God’s work of salvation and
sanctification. Difficult as it may seem, worry not for we have the
Holy Spirit who guides us and sustains us in our life.

The
Philippines’ 105th Anniversary of the Proclamation of
Independence was held on
June 10, 2003
at the
Grand Ballroom of Hotel Gran Melia. It was participated by different
groups of Filipinos living in Indonesia, with songs and dances to our
delight. The Genesis group (consisting of Brothers Pete, Percy and
Armand, with Sisters Ira, Sansu and Libay) rendered three beautiful
songs that got everyone mesmerized.

On
June 13,
2003,
we were very blessed to have Msgr. Christophe of the Vatican Embassy who
enlightened us on the differences between the Islam and Catholic
religions. It was truly an eye-opener for our members as to the origin
of Islam. He also gave insights on the differences on the religious
practices between the two. Magnificent!!

It’s THANKSGIVING
DAY. We held the
annual
event “Hari Gembira” last July 14, 2003 at the Beverly
Towers (thanks to Sis. Cynthia Belen), as our Community’s way of saying
‘thank you for making our lives easier and for your loyalty’ to our
household helpers and drivers. We had great time with them as we played
and danced with, and distributed gifts to them. Our helpers and drivers
have remarkable talents not only in cooking and keeping the house clean
but also in dancing and cheering. And to all our generous sponsors,
thank you very much and may the Good Lord bless you all. More photos

On
June 20, 2003,
our guest speaker, Fr. Justin Sudarminto discussed about the Sacrament
of Marriage and its practical aspects. Marriage is a way to Holiness
because it is a form of discipleship. Marriage has also its prophetic
aspects as parents share their faith with their children. It was
interesting to note the simple tips given to us on how to stay married
to the same person, for the rest of our lives. Awesome!!

We had the Lord’s
Day on
June 27, 2003
with Bro. Pete and Bro. Dolreich leading the celebration. The Lord’s
Day is a day set apart especially for the Lord. It is the time when the
Community gathers and shares in the breaking of the bread and drinking
of the wine.

It
was a joint baptismal celebration held on the Fourth of July, with Fr.
Binzler officiating the First Friday Mass. The two baby boys baptized on
that day were Victor Gregory (left photo), third child of Bro. Lito and
Sis. Chen Manabat, and Ethan Rey (right), also the third child of Bro.
Bong and Sis. Richel Calio. The social hall of Gereja Santa Maria was
jam-packed with guests, coupled with an overflowing supply of food.

Every Thursday, we
also have our Intercessory Ministry that meets and prays for the needs
and intentions of the Community, relatives and friends. Thanks to the
generosity of all the members of the group for giving their time to pray
for all of us. Wonderful!
