Teachings on the Beatitudes, works of mercy and inspiring testimonies nourished the Community this month.

AUGUST 15, 2003
The continuing talk on the beatitudes given this time by Bro. Dolreich, was about “Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the Kingdom of God.”  “Blessed are the poor” does not mean that only the poor can enter the Kingdom of God.  Poor in this context pertains to our own admission that we are nothing and that God is everything.

AUGUST 17, 2003
Yayasan Panti Wherda Bina BhaktiInspired by the teachings on the Beatitudes, we held our second Works of Mercy outreach for the year on this day. Our beneficiaries are the “omas” and “opas” of Yayasan Panti Wherda Bina Bhakti (a home for the aged). A program was held filling the Yayasan’s hall with music and dancing, mostly from the unstoppable “omas” and “opas”, as well as gift giving. Our hearts were filled with joy because of their beautiful smiles and kindness. We thank Bro. Noel Abawag and the members of the Works of Mercy Ministry for spearheading this visit and the many generous members who willingly shared their time and resources.  More photos on below.

AUGUST 22, 2003
The Community held another Rosary Worship. Led by Bro. Pete, we meditated on the Sorrowful Mysteries and worshipped God through prayers and songs. We also prayed for healing (physical, spiritual, emotional, relationships in marriages, family, etc.) believing that “by His wounds we are healed.”

AUGUST 29, 2003
We were blessed to have Fr. Francis Teo and Bro. John, from the Missionary Community of Saint Paul the Apostle and Mary, Mother of the Church.  Fr. Francis shared with us his inspiring experiences ministering to the Turkana nomadic tribe in Kenya.  He said that as missionaries, they are tasked to preach the Gospel to all but it was difficult to tell them about the body and blood of Christ when the people have neither food to eat nor water to drink.  So, aside from giving them spiritual nourishment, they also assist in promoting the livelihood of the people.  Donations are welcome if anyone wants to share blessings to God’s people in Kenya.

SEPTEMBER 5, 2003
After the 1st Friday celebration of the Holy Eucharist by Fr. Veeger, the Community shared in the sumptuous dinner prepared by the Edullantes family.  Would you believe that 4 family members are celebrating their birthdays in September.  Happy, Happy Birthday!!! God bless you all.

SEPTEMBER 12, 2003
Another talk on the Beatitudes – “Blessed are the merciful for they shall obtain mercy” – was given by one of our teachers, Sis. Renelyn Palatolon. She pointed out that mercy is justice in action.
