WHERE THE LORD IS
-
LEADING US...
-

“From now on, the Helper, the Holy Spirit whom the Father
will send in My name, will teach you all things and remind you all that
I have told you.”
(John 14:26)
-
- From
a handful of people meeting, praying and studying the Word of God to a
covenanted Community that worships and spreads the Word of God, the
Genesis Catholic Community has gone a long way, thanks to the guidance
of the Lord through His Holy Spirit.
-

- As the Catholic
world celebrates Pentecost, we at Genesis have been refreshed and once
again inspired on May 21 by the preaching of Bro. Wimpie Santoso
(right photo) from our sister community, Komunitas Keluarga Kudus
Allah (God’s Holy Family), as he dealt on the topic about the Holy
Spirit. Just like the Father in Heaven and His Son, Jesus Christ, the
Holy Spirit is called by many names - the Giver of Life, the Eternal
Spirit, the Paraclete, the Comforter and a lot more.
-
- For God’s
children, the Holy Spirit plants in the heart a hatred for sin and a
love for holiness. By this, Bro. Wimpie distinctly reiterated that if
our ways are the same as before even after we were baptized in the Holy
Spirit, then God’s Spirit is not working in us. The transforming power
that changes the heart of a sinner can only come through the Holy
Spirit, and not by man’s own merits or desire.
-
- In the same way
that we were moved to become a covenanted Community, the Spirit of the
Lord is again moving us to achieve far greater goals. Our members have
been blessed with beautiful and talented children who will continue
God’s work in the future. Through the initiatives of their caring
parents and some single community members, the Youth Ministry is slowly
taking shape in the Community. Last May 29, the parents,
together with Bro. Pete Lapid, our Head Servant, and some single
members, held an orientation meeting at the Barleta residence,
discussing the mission & vision, structure and activities
of the ministry. With the Youth Ministry, we aim to mold the minds
and hearts of our growing teenagers in the love and fear of God, in the
midst of the material world we all live in. We hope to b
ring
more parents and their teenagers, the future servants of the Lord, to
work together through the guidance of God’s Spirit.
-
- The Holy Spirit’s
inspirations continued with the homily/sharing of Fr. Nico Dumais, SJ
(left photo) during the First Friday Mass last June 4 on how to live
our faith in a non-Christian environment. He posed a challenge to us
to bring people together in Christ Jesus. On June 8, several Genesis
members attended the 106th Philippine Independence Day Gala
Dinner, an advance
celebration of the event on June 12, at the Gran Melia Hotel.
Special thanks to Bro. Alan Villareal (extreme right) who was the
Genesis coordinator for the event.
-
- A
week after the orientation meeting on May 29, the Genesis Youth Ministry
had their "getting to know you" session during a fun-filled afternoon
last June 5 at the Bumi Karang Indah, South Jakarta. Yearning for more,
they met again last June 13 for a session about the different ways of
communicating, and learning to be good communicators especially with
family members. This activity-based learning (thanks to the materials
from the Sword of the Spirit!) proved to be an effective way of
harnessing the energies of these active youth and sustaining their
interest. Next time you see them, don't be surprised
if they are more attentive. They're just applying some key points they
learned about the importance of listening for an effective communication
and the need to be "other-centered."
We too could learn from these kids!
-
- As
our special way of thanking the Lord for His blessings and the people
who makes our life here in Jakarta more comfortable, we set a day for
our helpers and drivers for the celebration of the annual “Hari Gembira.”
On June 12, we brought them to Taman Mini Indonesia Indah (fun photos
below) where they spent leisure time strolling around and meeting
their friends from other families. Thanks to the care groups of Bro.
Andy and Tintin Magbitang, and Sis. Let Bravo who coordinated the whole
event, as well as our sponsors and all the members who supported this
affair. The Lord bless you all.

- TELL US LIKE IT IS!
- Has
something wonderful and unique happened in your life lately? Did God
answer your prayer in a very unexpected way? Did you, like Isaiah, meet
God’s whisper?
- Have you felt His
powerful hand working in your life recently?
- Everyday, people
are experiencing God’s mighty Word in their lives and it is a pity that
very few know about it. Do you have a story to tell? Some Good News to
share?
- E-mail us (genesis@catholic.org) or fax us
(021-6627384), and tell us about it. That’s right! You don’t have to be
a great writer to do this. We can help you write it – just tell us like
it is!
- Don’t forget to
write the subject: “Let Me Tell You A Story”
Please take a
moment to sign our guestbook.
