CALLED TO EVANGELIZE-
By Beth Manibog
-
-
- Looking back at my
early years in the renewal, it seemed so difficult then to speak of the
goodness of the Lord in my life. Timid as I am, I could not imagine
myself witnessing and evangelizing about God. Back then for me, the
message of God to proclaim His Good News is particularly addressed to
the priests and people who are typically good preachers and have a well
gr
asp
of the Bible. As I grew in my faith in the Lord, I realized that the
calling to preach the Good News is for every believer. Every Christian
is an evangelist. It’s a mission that no one is exempt from. We can
fulfill this call in various ways. Some Christians are gifted with
eloquent preaching and are able to reach out to the masses. Others are
gifted with wisdom and knowledge and are able to explain the truths in
the Bible, leading people to know and accept Christ. While there are
also those Christians who are gifted teachers and are able to teach the
ways of God for men’s salvation.
-
- I have witnessed and heard
great preachers who proclaimed the Word of God with conviction,
delivering the message of salvation in a profound way, moving people to
shed tears when they recognize their shortcomings and then acknowledge
the Kingship of Christ in their hearts. Indeed, evangelism at its best.
However, not all Christians (including me) are gifted with such
oratorical prowess. How then can we be effective evangelizers?
-
- We may not have the gift of
preaching but we have in our hearts the source of salvation, the very
essence of evangelism. Living our lives as true followers of Christ is
far more powerful and convincing in reaching out to others. The
transformation that happened in our lives when we accepted Christ is far
more striking and louder than the loudest preaching done in the pulpit.
When we impact others with the way we live our lives, then we are
evangelists, fulfilling our mission for Christ. The Lord bless you!
- TELL US LIKE IT IS!
- Has
something wonderful and unique happened in your life lately? Did God
answer your prayer in a very unexpected way? Did you, like Isaiah, meet
God’s whisper?
- Have you felt His
powerful hand working in your life recently?
- Everyday, people
are experiencing God’s mighty Word in their lives and it is a pity that
very few know about it. Do you have a story to tell? Some Good News to
share?
- E-mail us (genesis@catholic.org) or fax us
(021-6627384), and tell us about it. That’s right! You don’t have to be
a great writer to do this. We can help you write it – just tell us like
it is!
- Don’t forget to
write the subject: “Let Me Tell You A Story”
