JUNE SPECIALS

- There’s always
something special in the month of June. In the Philippines, June is the
popular month for weddings, an exciting, precious and memorable event a
man and a woman in love go through. In Indonesia, it is the month most
families go on vacations, bonding and spending time with each other as
school days are momentarily over. Not to mention that the month of June
has always been very special to me as it is the month when I was born.

-
-
GENESIS also had something special this month as we were
blessed with the presence of two of the Lord’s special servants from the
Light of Jesus Community in the Philippines. Sis. Vita Montforte
(pictured
right)
and Sis. Beckie Sanchez, amidst their hectic schedules, readily
accommodated our invitation for them to be our resource persons
in the Community.

-
During the GENESIS General Assembly on June 18, Sis. Vita
Montforte inspired the Community with her talk entitled “Do whatever
He tells you” (John 2:5). She emphasized two important points –
abiding and obeying. Abiding is doing things with love and devotion
while obeying is mechanically doing things. To be able to reach out to
others and bring them to the Lord, we must not only obey the Lord but
also abide by His words in our lives. Let us follow our Mother Mary
who completely abides in the Lord, and her instruction to us to “Do
whatever He tells you.” So that just like at the wedding at Cana,
we too will have our miracles. For Jesus prom
ised,
“If you abide in Me and My words abide in you, then ask anything that
you could wish for and it shall be done unto you” (John 15:7).
-
- On the following
day, we held a full-day seminar on The Power of Intercession at the
Simpruk Teras Apartments, again with Sis. Vita, assisted by Sis. Beckie.
Sis. Vita shared with us how to unlock God’s power in the community
by making every member an intercessor. This seminar was so timely as on
many occasions, we are asked to intercede for the concerns of others. As
Christians, we have a basic responsibility to pray for others. It is an
important role in bringing about change in the lives of people, in the
current situation and even in the smallest things we ask God for. Sis.
Vita also enlightened us about praying in tongues as an effective tool
for intercessory prayer. She stressed that when we ran out of words when
praying, when we do not know exactly what to pray for or when
we want to directly communicate with the Spirit of God, then we pray in
tongues. It is
a powerful and effective prayer, which the evil one cannot understand.
-
- To Sis. Vita and
Sis. Beckie, thank you for the blessings you brought to GENESIS. May God
also bless you both abundantly!
-
- TELL US LIKE IT IS!
- Has something
wonderful and unique happened in your life lately? Did God answer your
prayer in a very unexpected way? Did you, like Isaiah, meet God’s
whisper?
- Have you felt His
powerful hand working in your life recently?
- Everyday, people are
experiencing God’s mighty Word in their lives and it is a pity that very
few know about it. Do you have a story to tell? Some Good News to
share?
- E-mail us (genesis@catholic.org) or fax us
(021-6627384), and tell us about it. That’s right! You don’t have to be
a great writer to do this. We can help you write it – just tell us like
it is!
- Don’t forget to write
the subject: “Let Me Tell You A
Story”
Please take a
moment to sign our guestbook.
