HARI
GEMBIRA 2001
 On
July 7, 2001, the entire Genesis family paid tribute and spent a day
with our helpers, drivers and babysitters with a Thanksgiving Day (Hari
Gembira) at the
Tarakanita School in Jl. Barito. Kebayoran Baru. Emceed by Bro. Fred
and Sis. Liza, members joined in the fun games like sack race,
basketball shootout, tug-of-war, longest line and find-your-own-shoe.
There was also the search for the “Mr. & Ms. Hari Gembira
2001” won by Anwar (Sis. Liesye’s driver) and Enny (Bro. Bong
and Sis. Richel’s helper). The
annual sing-a-long contest was the climax of all the games and was won
by, again, another helper of Bro. Bong and Sis. Richel, Kundari.
Donations in cash and in kind served as prizes for all the
participants. The donations amounted to more than Rp. 6 million, given
by generous brothers and sisters in the Community. Truly, the Lord

OUR
CALL TO SERVE
 The
Community’s ECLS has come to its finale as Sis. Nenette gave an
inspiring talk on “Christian Service and a Call to Community” on
July 13th. Highlights  of
the talk were about the difficulty to live and grow in faith without
the support of a group or a Christian community; God's
anointing of those whom He calls and the most important reason
for our service is God Himself. By belonging to a Community, we are
able to live out our personal commitments to the Lord and able to love
one another; we are able to be a witness to others of God’s love;
and be an environment where we can flourish in the Lord. Sis. Sandra
testified about the love, support and care she experienced in Genesis
since she joined.
THE
LORD’S DAY
 We
celebrated “The Lord’s Day” on July 20th. Bro. Pete and Bro.
Alfred Torres led the ceremony while Bro. Fred Manibog led a powerful
worship. Brothers and sisters shared bread (with cheese) and wine
(actually, non-alcoholi c
sparkling wine). After that, several brothers and sisters witnessed to
the Lord’s goodness as they came up front and shared the blessings
of being in the Community. Articles of Bro. Raul and Sis. Dhany appear

THE
COVENANT
 For
the first time, Sis. Pinky Torres gave a very interesting and
remarkable talk on “The Covenant” on July 27th.
In her talk, a Covenant means a commitment with the Lord just
like being committed to our spouses. Explaining further, Sis. Pinky
mentioned that by being members of Genesis, we have our way of life
together in the Community, desiring to put our lives into God’s
hands completely, and working together with brothers and sisters in
the mission God has entrusted to us as His people.
