- How
would you compare your life right now to the storm in the story
narrated in Mark 4:35-41 – smooth sailing, choppy waters, furious
squall or the storm is over? As
time passed by, have you seen improvements in the way you have handled
storms? What difference did your faith in Christ make?
-
- These
were the questions on which our Care Group (CG) pondered and shared
about during our recent CG meeting.
We had, unexpectedly, an honest, lively and enlightening
discussion and we thought of sharing the highlights with the
Community.
-
- *********
-
We
all agreed that storms, big or small, are but a part of life.
Who could imagine life without storms?
A few of us even thought that life would be boring without
them. Or worse, we would
be wondering whether we’re living a life at all.
-
- We
are grateful when life is smooth sailing, when all aspects of our
lives appear to be in harmony and we seem at peace with the rest of
the world. But we
understand that a storm might be brewing and could strike in a not so
distant future. The calmness we are now experiencing is but a phase in our
life when we could best prepare ourselves, physically and spiritually,
if and when the storm strikes.
-
- Storms
are definitely God’s blessings. They are often misunderstood and
overestimated, weakening our faith in God and in ourselves in the
process. We get
discouraged, doubtful, our confidence eroding, even angry at times.
Nonetheless, we realize when it is all over that we are
actually stronger and wiser than we thought, and that storms are but a
means to hone in our gifts and talents.
-
- By
God’s grace, there are no storms that we cannot overcome.
With God on our side, how can we possibly fail?
-
- Most
of all, it is when we experience storms in our lives that we feel
God’s love the most. Could
this be God’s loving way of re-directing our focus in life?
Worldly pleasures and concerns alike too often distract us.
But if we truly believe in His love for us, there should be no
cause for us to fear the storms in our lives.
