Holy Father's Prayer Intention for the Month:
THE SACRAMENT OF RECONCILIATION
That the people of God and their pastors may grow in their realization of the importance of the Sacrament of Reconciliation, the gift of God's merciful love.

BE WISE by Bro. Pete LapidBE WISE by Bro. Pete Lapid
LENT has always been for me a time of pre-paration for Easter. A time to prepare ourselves to meet the Risen Lord on Easter Sunday. A time to prepare, clean and get rid of all the sins that are occupying our hearts – so that our hearts will be pure and ready to meet the Lord when He comes. READ MORE

Lenten Challenge - by Fr. Binzler, SJLENTEN CHALLENGE by Fr. S. Binzler, SJ
Lent is a time for us to reflect and review our outlook in life. To pause and take a look at how has materialism and other worldly concerns have affected the way we live.  More importantly, it is the time to "re-evaluate" how have we been living our lives as Christians.  READ MORE

Fasting in the Historical Perspective - by Fr. KJ Veeger, MSCFASTING IN THE HISTORICAL PERSPECTIVE
by Fr. KJ. Veeger, MSC
Fasting is total or partial abstinence from food for religious motives.  Its motives are manifold and vary depending on the purpose or goal that a person wants to achieve.  For one, it is moral in nature, so that he sees fasting as self-punishment, oppression of passions, expiation of sins etc., while for the other, it is the creation of a bodily disposition, which is conducive to meeting God. READ MORE

God of Darkness? by Philip YusonGOD OF DARKNESS? by Philip Yuson
He said that in our faith, God often blinds us from everything that is not He so that we can detach ourselves from them and remain focused on Him through faith.  This is what He called as the dark night of the senses. There is another darker night of the soul, which (I hope) will be another topic in the future.  Some people use these two nights as if they are the same but they are totally different. The dark night of the senses increases our faith while the dark night of the soul increases our love. READ MORE

Community Life by Tintin Magbitang
February 23, 2003 was a very special day for caring, as the Community had its first Works of Mercy (WOM) project for the year, with Yayasan Sinar Pelangi (YSP) as the recipient.  YSP helps patients with various defects who are in need of operations, orphans, children from broken homes and abandoned children.    READ MORE

Be Reconciled with God by Fr. Agustinus Belo, PRBE RECONCILED WITH GOD
by Fr. Agustinus Tupen Belo, PR
For us, Lent is a season full of mercy.  A time of salvation.  It is during this time when we try, as much as we can, to reflect on our individual life’s journey especially to recognize the sin and weakness of our humanity. READ MORE

THE MAN, THE CHILDREN AND THE HAT by Carolle BautistaTHE MAN, THE CHILDREN AND THE HAT
by Carolle Bautista
I heard this story once about a man, who, together with his friends from his office, went to a rafting adventure in a remote town.  Before starting the journey towards the river, they were all given one hat each to use. They enjoyed the rafting experience and when they were finally done, they have to walk back all the way from where they came from.  READ MORE

Lenten Sacrifice by Beth ManibogLENTEN SACRIFICE by Beth Manibog
It started just as a wish … I wish I could go to Mass more often than the usual Sunday Mass.  I wish I could wake up early everyday to attend the 5:30 a.m. Mass at the Gereja Yohanes.  I desired to receive the Lord more often and listen to His words. I wanted to sacrifice something more than the usual fasting on food. I wanted to offer and surrender to the Lord my favorite pastime…sleep! READ MORE

THE CALL by Sansu GarinTHE CALL by Sansu Garin
The longing of God for us can be compared to that of a child looking for a father or a mother.  I remember the song of the orphans at the Yayasan Sinar Pelangi (YSP)*, a charitable foundation which we visited last month. “Tidak ada ayah, tidak ada bunda… Ayah! Ibu! Datanglah…” (I have no father, no mother… Oh!  Father.  Oh! Mother. Come! Come! Please come…”) READ MORE

Saint for the Month: ST. JOHN OF GODSaint for the Month: ST. JOHN OF GOD
From the time he was eight to the day he died, John followed every impulse of his heart. The challenge for him was to rush to follow the promptings the Holy Spirit gave him, not his own human temptations. But unlike many who act impulsively, when John made a decision, no matter how quickly, he stuck with it, no matter what the hardship. READ MORE
