God Answers Prayers
Beth ManibogLENTEN SACRIFICE
by Beth Manibog

It started just as a wish … I wish I could go to Mass more often than the usual Sunday Mass.  I wish I could wake up early everyday to attend the 5:30 a.m. Mass at the Gereja Yohanes.  I desired to receive the Lord more often and listen to His words. I wanted to sacrifice something more than the usual fasting on food. I wanted to offer and surrender to the Lord my favorite pastime…sleep!  Because I just love to sleep and delight in the cool morning breeze still curled up in bed.  I have nurtured that desire for quite sometime, thinking I can do it on my own.  Until I lifted it up to the Lord, prayed and asked His grace that I be able to make it the very next day. The next day, lo and behold, at exactly 5:00 a.m., I woke up – I knew that it was the Holy Spirit who whispered to me – it’s time to go.     The succeeding days got better as I was no longer alone in going to Mass – my son just loved to go that he jumps out of bed the moment I call him (even with a whisper- which surprises me!).   It is so encouraging that he would always remind me to wake him up before he retires to bed the night before.  His day seems incomplete if he was not able to go with me.  My daughter loves to go and comes along with us when I wake her up as well.   With their tender age, I am so thankful to the Lord for the zeal and the love He has planted in their hearts.   I pray that we will be able to continue on with this early communing with our Lord and may it bear a wonderful fruit of instilling the value of having a personal relationship with our Lord to my children.

In our Lenten journey, let us think of a sacrifice to the Lord for the glory of God, though it may seem impossible, the Lord Himself will help us achieve it through prayers.

May you be inspired by the following answered prayers…

Nilda (thru Sis.Nenette)
We are very thankful to all those who prayed for a miracle to happen upon Ibu Veronica.  She is now conscious after several days in coma due to stroke. Praise God for extending her life.

Danny Singson
Alleluia, praise and thanks be to God, our Father. I started work today at the Harbour Center.  Thank you for all your prayers.

Regi Joaquin
Thank you to everyone for praying for my sister Lourdes and her baby. Baby boy Adriel was born Sunday and the whole family is very happy.  Thanks be to God.

Edna Palencia (friend of Leslie Freires)
Thank you for your prayers - my mom's biopsy showed negative of cancer.

Andy Magbitang
We are very thankful for all the prayers that you and the Community have offered for Sian, Nathan and Tintin when they were sick and confined at the hospital.  God is really good, He has given us friends and Community to help us at all times.  Thank you for the many prayers, visits and food that made all of us well and happy.

TELL US LIKE IT IS!
Has something wonderful and unique happened in your life lately? Did God answer your prayer in a very unexpected way? Did you, like Isaiah, meet God’s whisper?
Have you felt His powerful hand working in your life recently?
Everyday, people are experiencing God’s mighty Word in their lives and it is a pity that very few know about it. Do you have a story to tell? Some Good News to share?
E-mail us (genesis@catholic.org) or fax us (021-6627384), and tell us about it. That’s right! You don’t have to be a great writer to do this. We can help you write it – just tell us like it is!
Don’t forget to write the subject: “Let Me Tell You A Story”
